New Delhi: Just before two days of Diwali, we celebrate Dhanteras. It marks the begining of Diwali. The word Dhanteras is derived from the sanskrit word and refers to wealth (Dhan), on the thirteenth day (teras) of the moon cycle. Lord Kubera also known as God of wealth and Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped on this ocassion.
